Tri-X 320 T Max 400 is a great film with a short toe and plenty of expansion capabilities and excellent reciprocity characteristics. I followed the format of my last film stock comparison between Kodak Tri-X Kodak TMax 400 and Ilford HP5 400 by taking some shots outside inside with studio lighting and of landscapes. In summary if you are looking for gritty and a grainy look thats affordable then we would recommend Ilford HP5 400 film. Tri-X 320 is only available in 120 and large format while Tri-X 400 is available in 35mm and 120. On the good side TMAX 400 can be very fine grained. We were honestly expecting a bigger difference but they look very similar with Tri-X 400 having slightly more contrast but a wider range of more tones and TMAX 400 has little less contrast and slightly finer grain. In my opinion Tri-X is a way more versatile film and the grain is gorgeous.

Similar comparisons can be made between Ilford FP4 and HP5 vs. Im not an expert on the differences but Tri-X 320 is more of a studio film and gives you more midtones.
